Although these partnerships are encouraging, they are often underutilized and do not reach the widest population. Furthermore, the lack of consistent evaluations of these initiatives limits their ability to demonstrate impact. Given the unique position of professional sports teams within their communities, there is great potential for them to act as promoters of healthy behaviors, leveraging their brand and providing the public with a positive message about incorporating healthy habits into daily life. To maximize this potential, the following recommendations are offered:
